Hmmm… on the whole, the meter is somewhat awkward on the word “something”. You read it as “some thing”, which sounds stilted. I’d have gone with “a post” or something like that.

This is what I’m reduced to if you give me no spelling to correct.

The meter I’m not sure you should be worried about, as I read ‘something’ with the same rhythm and syllable emphasis as ‘a post’.

The glottal stop between “Writesomething...” is much more stuttered than “Writea post...” however, which may account for the better flow, albeit minimally. I think stylistically speaking ‘something’ captures the ambiguity of the piece much more completely. It is probably also the presence of ‘here’ which could be the indirectly defining part of this line.

In fact I probably would’ve gone with “Writehere on this blog tonight”

But who’s to say; it’s poetry.

I knew that my limerick was very beautiful and would certainly produce some powerful emotional responses, however I never could have foreseen just how much it could affect you both. I propose we all hold hands and try and channel our inner child.

You should have gone with effect. On the pedantry front, however, I’m feeling a little inadequate. If we’re going to use phrases like “glottal stop” I think I might just take my bat and ball and go home.
